"There is no 'them', there is only 'us'," my friend Meng said to me as we drove onto the Playa last year. It was my first Burning Man (2016), and as I queued 8 hours in the RV to enter, I thought: "there must be a way they can do this better...!" And then he said that. The distinct application of non duality. There is no 'me' and 'them'. There's only us. We're in this desert survival ship together. Constructing a new reality together. Surviving and thriving... together. Radical inclusion means everyone is included, no one is excluded. One must simply participate and agree to abide by the 10 principles of Burning Man, which I will list over the next two weeks here. Today's subject matter, inclusion, is one of the first critiques for someone who finds Burning Man to be a playground for the rich. Indeed, it can be that, as anything can be everything... but let me tell you - I hitchhiker off the playa with a musician from Oakland who, in his leased car, had $20 to his name. He volunteers for Burning Man and works a month before and after the festival to keep the desert clear. He exchanges his time and energy instead of financials, and he makes it happen. Where there is a will, there is a way. This could also open commentary to highlighting the amazing @drbronnerTransFOAMation camp, where our theme this year was about gender bending and radical inclusion of all expressions. So much to say and share... I even read aloud for our talent show a racy poem about desire. Radically inclusive.
