Ever notice how often there's a product-placement? Or how many billboards you see a day? How many brand names pass your eyes each hour, unnoticed - at least by your conscious mind... Now, imagine a branding break. A holiday, a true rest. No advertisements or sexy models making you believe "you'll be happy if you buy this..." No selling-of-souls wearing a brand printed in large black letters across your chest. They don't own you. Take back ownership of yourself. Set your soul free. Don't allow sleazy ads to bind you to a misrepresented happiness, dictated by your retail therapy or social strata brand ties. Open your arms wide and fllllyyy! Outside of these capitalistic notions of the free and the brave, see if you're buying more things to armour your identity. From the Burning Man, himself: "In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. We resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience." The photo? A community of dolphins are my spirit animal. (I'm not kidding; and it's not frou-frou BS. I can't make shit like that up.) So, dolphins can sponsor me. What if animals had brands and advertised...? Hard to imagine how unnatural it is to constantly transact on the level of selling-your-soul... PS - Is it a whale 🐳 ?!
